I chose to stash it this month, I used the pinks from Urban Zoologie as my base and brought in other fabrics from my stash. There is a mix of Bliss, henna garden, castle peeps, verna, Denise Schmidt, MoMo, and a few other random pieces. I love this pattern and I think it turned out really well. The only problem that I had it I spent so much time laying it out because as soon as I looked away my dog was laying on it and messing it up. So I would have to start the process again...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

Here is my version of Brocante I used Lollipop by Sandy Gervais. I added an extra row and I will be adding a couple of borders to make it a little bit bigger so it can be used as a decent size baby quilt. I feel that the colors would make it good to give to a baby boy, but I don't know of anyone who is have a boy anytime soon.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

I have been wanting to make something for my grandmother who was one of the people responsible for getting me into quilting. I can remember spending the summers at her house playing in the fabric and loving every minute of it. I thought that this month's project would be a perfect opportunity to do so, especially since I will be visiting her next week. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This month I went with some punctuation by American Jane and some Kona white. I thought that the collection would be perfect for grandma, bright and colorful with a little bit of a vintage Americana feel to it, I love the result. I have it basted and ready to start the quilting this weekend and I should have it finished before we start the trip to Grandma's house next week. Hope that she likes it as much as I do...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">All of those lovely packages from <a href="http://www.fatquartershop.com/">Fat Quarter Shop</a>, a couple weeks ago they had a great sale on Bliss and Swoon so I stocked up. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This was made from a bali pop using the Dream Big pattern from Simplify by <a href="http://www.camilleroskelley.typepad.com/">Camille Roskelley</a>. I made this quilt for my mom, she loves batiks and I have been waiting for the perfect pattern and as soon as I saw Dream Big I knew it would be perfect. If you get a chance pick this book up, great patterns with very easy to follow instructions. I already have another quilt ready to start on from this book.</div><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I made this for a co-worker who is getting ready to have a baby boy. The pattern is from <a href="http://www.ohfransson.com/oh_fransson/2010/02/crazy-ninepatch-lattice-quilt.html">Oh Fransson!</a> tutorial, loved the pattern and I am already planning on making another one. I used Alexander Henry's 2-d zoo in pool in each one of the blocks and then various blues, greens, and yellows. Some of the prints are from castle peeps, Katie jump rope, bliss, verna, swoon, punctuation, and some other random stash prints put together with Kona white.</div><br />

These are some of the fabrics that I have been eyeing and my mother-in-law has already decided that she is going to need something made from one of these collections :) Again thank you Carrie and I have a feeling that some of these will end up is some of your patterns that I have around the house.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Stopped by <a href="http://whipstitchfabrics.com/">Whipstitch</a> while I was in downtown last weekend. I have been admiring Quilt Remix by Emile Cier during the blog tour a couple of weeks ago and then once I got a chance to look at it in person I knew that I need this book in my collection. I could see myself make all of the patterns in the book and that is really saying something. I also got the fabric for this month's <a href="http://jemjam.typepad.com/">Style Stitches</a> and a few other prints that caught my eye. I am so happy that I finally found a good quilt store in my area, don't get me wrong I love shopping online but sometime it is nice to be able to go look at the fabric in person and I usually find something that I wouldn't normally go for online.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="240" j6="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMLZK8nltDRkPJLF-JHbblsnRUGCrqRvlEAHWmVH_sIiVYRH98PnCDn4TwaQ0eABKQjr-SG77_B6nsq1TFXPrVrvOSqtO08mgEYOCu-VlmAXcFnkMy4LWFof3PhgQDiuqY2tIUIUNFkzE/s320/Stash+week+6+part+2.jpg" width="320" /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

I ended up winning one of the give aways for Le Petite for January and I got a $10.00 gift card to <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/quilttaffy">Quilt Taffy</a>. So I picked the oh so cute Alexander Henry cupcakes, I have no idea what I am going to do with it but it was too cute to pass up. I have had this bag finished for a week now, but I was so over it once I finished it I had no desire to post it. I had so many issue while making this bag and it really had me wondering if I had the sewing skills to make some of the other bags in the book. If I am having this many problems with the first bag how is it going to be once I get to the end of the book. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">So I walked away from it and have really looked at the pattern or the bag since I finished it, once I came back to review the pattern I see why I had so many problems... I don't follow instructions well. I cut fabric wrong multiple times sometimes I noticed and other's I didn't until it was too late, I didn't stop in the right place, didn't backstiches, and so many other problems. Going back and looking at it I realize that all the problems that I had were stupid mistakes and that I should pay better attention next time. I am looking forward to making another one of these bags right in the near furture. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTvULIIZVXuDn8AeQP0UmlKwFdggassuT8Fa1K0Cy_mmTZ7l8Li3t7dYZBpJonjYCfjGeKiQEWFAwlfCwi3fUb795l4L8DGF6owCtyzS1bxdWv7Tnkyr6MRD6fZ9RWJ6PiIPDvJln37Cc/s1600/it%2527s+a+hoot+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" h5="true" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTvULIIZVXuDn8AeQP0UmlKwFdggassuT8Fa1K0Cy_mmTZ7l8Li3t7dYZBpJonjYCfjGeKiQEWFAwlfCwi3fUb795l4L8DGF6owCtyzS1bxdWv7Tnkyr6MRD6fZ9RWJ6PiIPDvJln37Cc/s320/it%2527s+a+hoot+2.jpg" width="265" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Even with all of the problems that I had with my Cosmo bag and I am still looking forward to this month's project. I have some Alexander Henry sugar skulls and the green is Michael Miller from Sanctuary. You can't see it in the picutre but the sugar skull has sparkly accents. I went to Mexico last year and they had these everywhere down there and I just fell in love with the style. Hopefully I will get this bag finished over the long weekend.</div><br />

This is the first quilt that I have been able to make completely from my stash! I was so proud of myself in being able to use my stash to make the quilt and so was my husband because he asked if that means that I have enough fabric now. We all know the answer to that :)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

Every time that I would ask her she would tell me I'm nuts and ask if I had seen how many pieces there are. So when I saw Rachel at PS I Quilt was doing a <a href="http://www.psiquilt.com/2011/01/postage-stamp-quilt-along.html">quilt along</a>, I knew I would have to join! Even though there are a lot of pieces it should be made much easier strip piecing it. I am using a Verna jelly roll with some Kona white. I hope to have my 5 strips sets together tomorrow.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

Between the holidays and my machine breaking I completely forgot about it during December. Once the new year started I said told myself that I was going to do a better job of keeping up with it. So I did block 5 right after the instructions were posted, but I didn't take the time to post my picture and missed the deadline again. Well today I made sure that I have posted all 6 blocks to <a href="http://www.flickr.com/groups/1527403@N20/">flickr</a> and thought that I would post a picture of all the blocks that I have completed so far. I used a Bliss by moda and the more that I play with the fabric the more I love it. I think that I might have to stock up on this soon, it is just so pretty :) </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-c8vXwDAmc3Wu5EqbA5g2HWmfT7wnOBciQ2_wVSUrhk5ZqseeUCs67GpSqbiyMAUajZi-7g2r7YaJsovKF88FtIufxs6qZmbbdGoQjb4ons6taZBNbB2dY8tnzM9XtpYxKRHG3KCL9N0/s1600/P1000816.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="216" n4="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-c8vXwDAmc3Wu5EqbA5g2HWmfT7wnOBciQ2_wVSUrhk5ZqseeUCs67GpSqbiyMAUajZi-7g2r7YaJsovKF88FtIufxs6qZmbbdGoQjb4ons6taZBNbB2dY8tnzM9XtpYxKRHG3KCL9N0/s320/P1000816.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

I thought about not doing this one at all but when I started this I wanted to complete all the projects so I decided to going through with this one. The project did not get off to a great start, once I finally got the fabric in my sewing machine broke. I had to wait for my new machine to come in and I really didn't know if I was going to be able to get this project done. Once I got started on this project I fell in love with it and it came together so quickly! I think that the fabrics help a lot because I love the retro Christmas look, but overall this was a lot of fun to make and I think that my MIL is going to want one of these next year. Here is my prairie point Christmas, this was made with a mix of sparkle all the way and groove by Robert Kaufman.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

I made mine using a Happy charm pack and some Kona white. I ordered some additional fabric from this line to make this quilt a little bigger (this is way to small for my taste). I have order pink polka-dots and one of the purple prints from this line to hopefully make it big enough to be a baby quilt. Of course I waited and waited to order it and by the time that I did order the fabric it was to late (the fabric is going to be delivered tomorrow...). Again I had a lot of fun making this small project, they are very satisfying since they can be finished in an afternoon. I can't wait to see everyone else has made and see what is up for December.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXZCn3v4Zt8RyB249tymdSdmEQaanqUy5N8SPa6DgSNGj5PDuSWOLuVeC3WHaq5nd-k3PjqPt6c2QhgRRiqLP0BPv4Wygq34IabCmmSGDh5bOATWGvJWmd3CsZP7KhhGGkJttrDE4XMdw/s1600/November+30+015.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" ox="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXZCn3v4Zt8RyB249tymdSdmEQaanqUy5N8SPa6DgSNGj5PDuSWOLuVeC3WHaq5nd-k3PjqPt6c2QhgRRiqLP0BPv4Wygq34IabCmmSGDh5bOATWGvJWmd3CsZP7KhhGGkJttrDE4XMdw/s320/November+30+015.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>Amandahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07687915229286468787noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5992678847557791672.post-28863784958488998332010-11-15T19:00:00.000-08:002010-11-15T19:00:18.305-08:00Layer Cake Quilt Along : block 1<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Lately I have been wanting to get more involved with the Internet community and I thought that this layer cake quilt along would be the perfect opportunity. I made version 4 of Paganini out of it's a hoot by Momo and a little Kona white. I was hoping that the yardage was going to out so I could have this completely finished, but I had no such luck. So here is here is mine minus the borders. <div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2AdHgqnfhH0mw5JA_XzyT0-F_SmhMQKCG7qma6hN0qcnNf3wMSG3G3k1jJl1zVyufFNspMh77BCYJCESFtDTnFlprdELAJW6if9M6QByPJikKbyt2R7boCerP2TZIXLodbcZByUgA7W0/s1600/P1000621.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" nx="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2AdHgqnfhH0mw5JA_XzyT0-F_SmhMQKCG7qma6hN0qcnNf3wMSG3G3k1jJl1zVyufFNspMh77BCYJCESFtDTnFlprdELAJW6if9M6QByPJikKbyt2R7boCerP2TZIXLodbcZByUgA7W0/s320/P1000621.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">On a side note this is the second Schnibble that I have made and I am in love with these patterns! They are so much fun to make. I am in the process of finishing up my third one Imagine made out of fruitcake. I have been wanting to become more involved with the others in the quilting community and doing this through the Internet will be the best avenue for me to do so. There will be more to come from me this long weekend, but I thought that I would leave you with a picture.<br /><br />This is an up close shot of the quilting on the quilt that I made for my mom last year for her birthday.<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSNzGnKv1j-btlouiODeZbzchnqNFVSIUjctV614Bwi8oXQVia9Nafs5IIWoNcTbK7Bq9En2qVAdc4Ytdv0QXArlr7BKRWShm1P31Av6N8Fz3uyy_KJBr_rjf7xOhJtHZM53UsZsXbhh0/s1600/IMG_0346.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5526032260521706786" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSNzGnKv1j-btlouiODeZbzchnqNFVSIUjctV614Bwi8oXQVia9Nafs5IIWoNcTbK7Bq9En2qVAdc4Ytdv0QXArlr7BKRWShm1P31Av6N8Fz3uyy_KJBr_rjf7xOhJtHZM53UsZsXbhh0/s320/IMG_0346.JPG" /></a><br /><div></div>Amandahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07687915229286468787noreply@blogger.com0
