Le Peitie - June

This month I went with the Recess,  I didn't think that I wanted to deal with all of those HST this month. I chose to stash it this month, I used the pinks from Urban Zoologie as my base and brought in other fabrics from my stash. There is a mix of Bliss, henna garden, castle peeps, verna, Denise Schmidt, MoMo, and a few other random pieces. I love this pattern and I think it turned out really well. The only problem that I had it I spent so much time laying it out because as soon as I looked away my dog was laying on it and messing it up. So I would have to start the process again...

I think that this will make a very sweet quilt for a little girl, as you might be able to tell I love to use this monthly project to stock up on baby quilts. Everyone around me seems to be having babies so it's nice to keep a couple on hand just in case.

May Le Petite

For this month's project I used Hullabaloo by Moda and some Kona snow. I loved the size of this project, it fits perfectly on my new coffee table! I am hoping to get this one basted and quilted as well as last month's project this weekend. I can't wait to see what everyone else made.

Le Petite - April

I forgot to upload this post yesterday, I hope that I am not to late to be able to be included in the parade. Here is my version of Brocante I used Lollipop by Sandy Gervais. I added an extra row and I will be adding a couple of borders to make it a little bit bigger so it can be used as a decent size baby quilt. I feel that the colors would make it good to give to a baby boy, but I don't know of anyone who is have a boy anytime soon.

Le Petite - March

This month Le Peitie's project was Endless Summer, and I love this little quilt! I have been wanting to make something for my grandmother who was one of the people responsible for getting me into quilting. I can remember spending the summers at her house playing in the fabric and loving every minute of it. I thought that this month's project would be a perfect opportunity to do so, especially since I will be visiting her next week.

This month I went with some punctuation by American Jane and some Kona white. I thought that the collection would be perfect for grandma, bright and colorful with a little bit of a vintage Americana feel to it, I love the result. I have it basted and ready to start the quilting this weekend and I should have it finished before we start the trip to Grandma's house next week. Hope that she likes it as much as I do...

Stash week 11

In :

I got in a little bit of Dream On and Fandango, as well as a lot of Bliss. I got backing fabric for three quilts one of these being a king size quilt (see below), so that makes for a lot of yardage in. I wanted to stock up on some of those wonderful dots and flowers from Bliss to, they will work so well mixed with other collections.

Total in : 36 1/2 yards

Out :

1/4 yard from my own stash to add to these blocks for the twelve month bee that I am apart of. This was my first attempt at a wonky log cabin that I have been seeing so much of, and I had a lot of fun making these. I have a feeling that there will be one of these quilts in my future.

7 1/2 yards for the blocks of my king size quilt that I am making for a family friend. I have finished the blocks and I went ahead and sewed the scraps together into half squared triangles and will set those aside for a baby quilt to made at some point in time. I figure if I went ahead and sewed them together now then I would actually use them appose to setting them in the scrap bin.

* not pictured 3/4 yard for three more blocks for the block-a-palooza, once all of the blocks are finished I will have to post a picture of all of them.

Total out : 8 1/2 yards

This week : + 28 yards (YTD + 114 yards)

Stash Report Weeks 8, 9, and 10

In:

All of those lovely packages from Fat Quarter Shop, a couple weeks ago they had a great sale on Bliss and Swoon so I stocked up. Not all of that was for me though, I did purchase some of it for my MIL.

I made a stop at Whipstitch and Joann's and picked up a much needed bolt Kona white along with some other great prints and pre-cuts. I didn't realize that Joann's had a good selection of Alexander Henry and Kona cotton.

Also Carrie and Miss Rosie sent me some great loot from the February Le Petite.

Total in over the past 3 weeks: 77 3/4 yards

Out:

This was made from a bali pop using the Dream Big pattern from Simplify by Camille Roskelley.  I made this quilt for my mom, she loves batiks and I have been waiting for the perfect pattern and as soon as I saw Dream Big I knew it would be perfect. If you get a chance pick this book up, great patterns with very easy to follow instructions. I already have another quilt ready to start on from this book.

I made this for a co-worker who is getting ready to have a baby boy. The pattern is from Oh Fransson! tutorial, loved the pattern and I am already planning on making another one.  I used Alexander Henry's 2-d zoo in pool in each one of the blocks and then various blues, greens, and yellows.  Some of the prints are from castle peeps, Katie jump rope, bliss, verna, swoon, punctuation, and some other random stash prints put together with Kona white.

This if for the layer cake quilt along, I am using bliss for mine. I also made 4 blocks for Block-a-palooza and February Le Petite. Also I gave my MIL the bliss fabric that she wanted from what I ordered above.

Total out over the past 3 weeks : 29 3/4 yards.

Past few weeks : + 48 yards (YTD + 114 yards)

M0y Oh My!

Ok I should done this last week when I got this in the mail, but THANK YOU Carrie!!!

I was so excited when I found out that I won but what I got in the mail was far more that I expected. These are some of the fabrics that I have been eyeing and my mother-in-law has already decided that she is going to need something made from one of these collections :) Again thank you Carrie and I have a feeling that some of these will end up is some of your patterns that I have around the house.

On a different note, I know that I am not that good a keeping up with posting on my blog but I really have been sewing. I am going to try to get better at updating my blog, but at least I have been updating flickr. I have a stash update that I should post, but it's bad really bad and I really don't want to see the numbers...

Le Petite : February

For February le Petite I went with Giddy by Sandy Gervais. As always I enjoyed making this one and but between this and the block-a-palooza I think I have seen enough flying geese for awhile...

Can't wait to see what every one's sweet spot looks like!

Stash Week 6

In:

Stopped by Whipstitch while I was in downtown last weekend. I have been admiring Quilt Remix by Emile Cier during the blog tour a couple of weeks ago and then once I got a chance to look at it in person I knew that I need this book in my collection. I could see myself make all of the patterns in the book and that is really saying something. I also got the fabric for this month's Style Stitches and a few other prints that caught my eye. I am so happy that I finally found a good quilt store in my area, don't get me wrong I love shopping online but sometime it is nice to be able to go look at the fabric in person and I usually find something that I wouldn't normally go for online.

I found a GREAT  deal on hush-a-bye and anytime that I can find Tula Pink on sale I always cave. I also picked up some Amy Butler daisy chain and some sweet by Urban Chicks.

It turns out that I am a winner! I ended up winning one of the give aways for Le Petite for January and I got a $10.00 gift card to Quilt Taffy. So I picked the oh so cute Alexander Henry cupcakes, I have no idea what I am going to do with it but it was too cute to pass up. I also went ahead and got stuff to make this month's Le Petite and a cute charm pack of some Japanese prints.

Total: 30 yards

Out:

I worked on getting caught up with the Block-a-palooza quilt along and this weeks Layer Cake quilt along block 7 (here is my block 7).

Style Stiches : Cosmo Bag

Here is my bag for Style Stiches January project. I have had this bag finished for a week now, but I was so over it once I finished it I had no desire to post it. I had so many issue while making this bag and it really had me wondering if I had the sewing skills to make some of the other bags in the book. If I am having this many problems with the first bag how is it going to be once I get to the end of the book.

So I walked away from it and have really looked at the pattern or the bag since I finished it, once I came back to review the pattern I see why I had so many problems... I don't follow instructions well. I cut fabric wrong multiple times sometimes I noticed  and other's I didn't until it was too late, I didn't stop in the right place, didn't backstiches, and so many other problems. Going back and looking at it I realize that all the problems that I had were stupid mistakes and that I should pay better attention next time. I am looking forward to making another one of these bags right in the near furture.

Even with all of the problems that I had with my Cosmo bag and I am still looking forward to this month's project. I have some Alexander Henry sugar skulls and the green is Michael Miller from Sanctuary. You can't see it in the picutre but the sugar skull has sparkly accents. I went to Mexico last year and they had these everywhere down there and I just fell in love with the style. Hopefully I will get this bag finished over the long weekend.

Stash Weeks 3, 4, & 5

Ok so I know that I have been keeping up with posting my stash, but with good reason... I been sewing!

In:

Let's get the big numbers out of the way first, I don't have pictures of everything but it has been half for projects I am currently working on and just for fun.

I had to order additional fabric for my cosmo bag and then there was a sale going on, who was I to say no to a good price on fabric.

I got a few pre-cuts, I have been excited to see both Hideaway and Central Park in person and they both lived up to expectations! Also I have been admiring fandango for awhile and it was on sale so I caved again.

I need to get some yardage to finish my mon ami and a few odds and ends.

Totals : 41 3/4 yards (yikes! all of these sales are killing me...)

Out:

This was my project for Judy's UFO group. I did get it finished before the end of January but just barely. I couldn't get a picture with out the dog in it, he thought that someone was about to play with him. I think that this will be a gift for my mother in law's upcoming birthday. While working on it I just felt like this would be something that she would love.

My Cosmo bag for Style Stitches group, I should have know that this one was not going to go well for me from the start but eventually I got it done. I really love the fabric that I picked, the more that I use Momo's fabric the more I love it.

Here is my finished project for Le Petite for January, it was made with Sugar Pop by moda. I keep saying it but I love this collection! The pattern turned out really cute and I hope that someone has a little girl soon so I can use this as a baby quilt.

Totals : 11 yards out

YTD : + 42 1/2 yards
I am hoping that this total is going to start to go down, because I have some tops that I am getting ready to quilt and that should help bring that number down. Also it would help if everyone would stop having such great sales that I am having trouble saying no to.

Le Petie - January

This month for Le Petie we made Miss Rosie's Quilt Co mon ami. I made mine out of Sugar Pop with a little bit of kona bone for the backing. I had a lot of fun making this one as always, but I don't think I will be working with any half squared triangles anytime soon...

Stash Report - week 1

I know this is a little late but better late than never...

Out:
3 1/4 yards for this baby quilt

One of the people that my mom works with is having a baby so this is what I came up with. This is the first quilt that I have been able to make completely from my stash! I was so proud of myself in being able to use my stash to make the quilt and so was my husband because he asked if that means that I have enough fabric now. We all know the answer to that :)

This is block 5 and even though I completed it on time I forgot to post in time. I have made a promise to myself that I have got to get better with posting and I am make slow but sure progress.

I have not order anything this week, but I do have a good bit coming in for week 2. Even though there will be stuff coming in due to the snow week that we had in Georgia there was a good bit that has been used.

Postage Stamp Quilt Along

I have always wanted a postage stamp quilt, I used to always ask my Grandmother for one. Every time that I would ask her she would tell me I'm nuts and ask if I had seen how many pieces there are. So when I saw Rachel at PS I Quilt was doing a quilt along, I knew I would have to join! Even though there are a lot of pieces it should be made much easier strip piecing it. I am using a Verna jelly roll with some Kona white. I hope to have my 5 strips sets together tomorrow.

Layer Cake Quilt Along

Ok, so I got a little behind with blocks 3 & 4 on the layer cake quilt along. Between the holidays and my machine breaking I completely forgot about it during December. Once the new year started I said told myself that I was going to do a better job of keeping up with it. So I did block 5 right after the instructions were posted, but I didn't take the time to post my picture and missed the deadline again. Well today I made sure that I have posted all 6 blocks to flickr and thought that I would post a picture of all the blocks that I have completed so far. I used a Bliss by moda and the more that I play with the fabric the more I love it. I think that I might have to stock up on this soon, it is just so pretty :)
